Grey sea salt owes its colour to the clay-bottom pans of salt marshes from which it is hand-harvested after the evaporation of seawater by the combined action of the wind and sun.
Maison Orphee sea salt is a source of minerals (sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium) and trace elements (iron, manganese, zinc). It is harvested by hand in Noirmoutier Island's tidal marshes, and does not undergo any processing other than sun drying. This artisanal process leaves its natural grey colour to salt. Non-iodized.
